Shahriar Izadi
BIOGRAPHY
Shahriar Izadi was born in Shiraz, Iran. After graduating from high school he spent a year learning the fundamentals of Arts in Fine Arts school in Tehran University. After that he moved to the United States, studied Architecture and moved back to Iran in 1980 after graduation. From 1980 to 2000 while working on residential projects for the private sector - which is a huge section of his architectural career - he was involved in the following projects:
- Planner and programmer of the “Shahr-e Ketaab” (The Book City) project – 40 buildings in Tehran.
- Charlie Chaplin Cinema
- Part of the redeveloping and transformation of the Tehran’s Slaughter House to The Bahman Cultural Complex.
- Renovating and deployment of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi’s current pavilion.
- Tehran International (Mehrabad) Airport
- Enghelab sports/commercial complex – 940000 ft² - The biggest complex of it’s kind in the Middle East.
- Revitalization and restoration of the historical district of Shiraz, The Karimkhani Citadel Complex and Bazaar-e Vakil
- Planner and designer of rest area chain facilities throughout the country - 450 buildings in total (in three types, in four different climates).
- Vanak cultural/entertainment complex (Narenjestan).
During all this time, photography has not only been his main thinking and designing tool, but as an individual field, it has always been an important part of his professional activities.
Izadi moved to Toronto in 2001 to further expand his educational and professional career. He currently concentrates on photography and industrial design while working on architectural projects.
